The Sign Historical Group

UFO Clipping Volumes
1800s-2002

Note:   This is a listing of bound, loose-leaf volumes of UFO press clippings in the files of Barry Greenwood. They were compiled over 36 years from a countless variety of sources, including a New England press clipping agency (from 1974-1985 and 1997), and a national clipping agency for 1965.

On-site searches in the newspaper collections of the Boston Public Library, Harvard University, MIT, Library of Congress, University of Arizona and assorted smaller libraries have been conducted and continue, with hundreds of dailies and weeklies available. Many were inherited from others' collections (notably the 1958-1969 Canadian collection of Gene Duplantier, the Meteor Research Society international clipping services between 1970 and 1974 and the New England UFO Study Group collection of 1964-1967). Some were received in trade, anonymously sent, and found by accident. This also serves as a regional reserve collection for the Sign Historical Group, containing for example Jan Aldrich's 1947 press compilation and copies of Robert Gribble's massive collection of the mid-1950s through the 1970s.

Volumes are in minimum 1-inch binders with the vast majority in two to three inch binders and larger. Total to date: 231 volumes
